I was out for a jog about a week ago on a path around a golf course, when suddenly I saw up ahead on my left a large bird in the grass. It was a red-tailed hawk, fifty feet in front of me! I've never seen a hawk on the ground or been that close to one. As I got closer it took flight, revealing the reason for sitting in the grass: it was clutching an object in its claws that, unfortunately for me, was not a robot, but rather a large rodent-like animal, which does make a bit more sense. I had just witnessed a successful hunt. The hawk was hurried due to the presence of a human running past, but the caught animal appeared to be heavy. The hawk flew a short distance away from me, landed to adjust its grasp, and took off again for home, wherever that may be.
That was really cool.
